Saying Goodbye to a Heart Dog

I got Buddy from the Greene Co. Animal Shelter in 2011, before I technically had a house to put him in. I was there to look at another dog, but Bud was in the back of his cage, terrified. I got the workers to coax him out, and then I sat on the floor with him and groomed him as he sat in my lap. It's one of my favorite memories, a private moment between us.
